We've shipped an update to the TrueRank algorithm today. The core weights haven't changed, but the way uptime is measured has been completely reworked to give newer servers a much fairer shot at ranking.
What was wrong with v2
Uptime counts for 25% of your TrueRank score. The problem was how that uptime was calculated. Under v2, a server that had been listed for 30 days with mediocre uptime would outscore a brand new server with perfect 100% uptime — simply because of how long they'd been listed. The math was working against you if you were new.
On top of that, the algorithm used a slow exponential confidence curve that meant you needed nearly a month of ping history before your uptime counted for anywhere close to its full value. At 4 days of history, even 100% uptime was only worth about 25% of what it should be.
What changed: 7-day weighted uptime
Uptime is now calculated as a weighted blend of your recent and historical performance:
70% weight on your last 7 days
30% weight on your last 30 days
This means recent uptime performance matters more than old history. A server that's been solid this week will rank better than one coasting on a good month from ages ago.
What changed: stepped confidence tiers
The old exponential curve is gone. Confidence in your uptime score now follows clear, predictable tiers based on how many days of ping history you have:
Less than 1 day — no uptime score yet
1–2 days — 25% confidence
3–4 days — 50% confidence
5–6 days — 75% confidence
7+ days — 100% full credit ✅
Once you've been listed and online for 7 days, you get the exact same uptime credit as a server that's been here for a year. Good uptime is good uptime.
What didn't change
The five components and their weights are identical to v2:
Vouches — 35%
Uptime — 25%
Reviews — 25%
NON-P2W Badge — 10%
Votes — 5%
Reviews and vouches still apply a 28-day linear time decay. Community activity from the last month carries full weight and older activity gradually fades — keep your players engaged to maintain your score.
Other fixes in this update
Browse, server view, and analytics pages now all use the exact same calculation — the score on the list is always the same number you see on your server page
The rank cache now updates immediately when a vote, vouch, or review is submitted rather than waiting up to 5 minutes
